Head Chef - Gareth Ward

Head Chef Gareth Ward and his team create innovative award-winning food in what is one of the most superb fine dining restaurants in Wales. 

Gareth joined Ynyshir Hall from the two Michelin star restaurant Sat Bains in Nottingham where he worked for three years as Sous Chef. He also worked at the one Michelin star Hambleton Hall and Seaham Hall in Durham. Specialising in tasting menus. His food is innovative, fresh and light. The main emphasis is on taste and exciting flavours, using only the best Welsh produce. 


DESCRIPTION


A haven of peace and tranquillity, this 5 Star restaurant with rooms can be found near Snowdonia National Park, Aberystwyth and Machynlleth.

Winners of the Best Fine Dining in Wales 2017 award at the Food Awards Wales in Cardiff, the restaurant at Ynyshir is one of Wales' most unique and contemporary fine dining destinations and holds four AA rosettes as well as its Michelin Star.  The focus is on the complete experience, a journey through both landscape and seasons.  

The restaurant serves alternative British tasting menus using the very best of Welsh and British produce. Expect to see Welsh Wagyu Beef and Anglesey Onions, foraged sea herbs from the estuary and greens from the woodland floor and Ynyshir's extensive gardens, wild deer, local duck, grouse, partridge and lamb on the menu.  As the seasons evolve Gareth and his team pickle, salt, ferment and preserve fruits, leaves and berries carrying the harvests through the winter into spring. 

Why not try the brand new kitchen pass bench that seats two in the middle of the kitchen for the best views of the chefs at work, or perhaps the shared chef's table which seats 6.
