Its premise is a simple one: to provide a place where people can come together, exchange ideas and challenge received wisdom without having to subscribe to a particular political or intellectual persuasion.

A staircase lined with portraits of independent thinkers from across the ages leads to the Club's intimate bar and library above Old Queen Street Café. It is, first and foremost, a convivial place to meet, drink and dine, where members can settle in for lunch or dinner and enjoy the atmosphere — with conversation always welcome.

Beyond dining, membership of The UnHerd Club opens the door to a lively programme of talks, interviews, debates, seminars and lectures spanning politics, culture, literature, philosophy, science and the burning issues that really matter. Writers, politicians, journalists, academics and cultural figures regularly appear at the Club, with members able to attend in person or follow events online.

The result is a rather different proposition from traditional London clubland: somewhere equally suited to lunch or a drink as to hearing an interesting speaker, encountering a different point of view or continuing the discussion afterwards over dinner.
