Dinner, Diplomacy & America: The Lansdowne Club’...

The Lansdowne Club, Mayfair Fri, 17th July 2026 until Sat, 18th July 2026

Luxury Restaurant Guide collaborates with leading cultural moments that sit comfortably alongside exceptional dining — where craftsmanship, provenance, and a sense of occasion define the experience. This event does precisely that.

If the current American psychodrama has you hooked, The Lansdowne Club is taking the long view.

This July, the Mayfair private members’ club is marking 250 years since American independence with two events for Luxury Restaurant Guide members: an evening of talk, champagne and dinner on 17 July, followed by a guided walk through London’s American connections and lunch back at the Club on 18 July.

Thursday 17th July - The Empire Strikes Back Talk & Dinner

From 7pm, experience an unforgettable evening of captivating history and exceptional food. Join esteemed military historian, Lt. Col. the Rev’d Paul Wright LVO, as he explores events leading up to and following American Independence, with particular emphasis on the pivotal moments connected to Lansdowne House and the influential roles played by its former residents and visitors. Enjoy a champagne reception, followed by a delicious three-course menu expertly crafted by Executive Head Chef Henry Brosi, complemented by sommelier-selected wines.

Friday 18th July - Guided Walking Tour & Lunch

From 9am, prior to setting off on the walking tour, convene for a selection of freshly breakfast pastries, accompanied by tea, coffee, and freshly squeezed orange juice. At 9.30m, -join Lt. Col. the Rev’d Paul Wright LVO for a guided tour through the streets of London. Take in key political and historic sites, including the bronze statue of George Washington at Trafalgar Square, a symbol of enduring peace between the United States and Great Britain. Along the way, see St. James’s Palace, the official residence of King George III, where key policy decisions were made to address the American rebellion. It was also here that John Adams was formally received by the King in 1785, following the signing of the Treaty of Paris. Explore Benjamin Franklin House, the world’s only remaining home of Benjamin Franklin, where the chief colonial diplomat lived from 1757 to 1775. Experience sabrage, the art of opening a bottle of champagne with a sabre, as we toast the special relationship between the United States and Great Britain. Discover many more fascinating stops along the way. At 12.45pm, recharge with a two-course lunch with wine in the stunning Art Deco dining room.
