Afternoon Tea at Cliveden

Cliveden House is a privately owned 5 Red Star award-winning hotel, and sister hotel to the world-renowned Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa in Hampshire. Its story is one of over 350 years of powerful personalities, debaucherous parties and scandalous affairs.

Built in 1666 by the 2nd Duke of Buckingham, as a gift to his mistress, Cliveden House has remained a pinnacle of intrigue and glamour for the elite. Enriched with antique furniture and period features, it has stayed true to its roots whilst also providing a luxurious setting to rest, meet and play.

Now, the Grade 1 stately home set within 376 acres of National Trust grounds is a luxurious five-star hotel.

To honour the estate’s legacy, Executive Head Chef, Christopher Hannon and his team curated a comprehensive Cliveden history inspired Afternoon Tea.
 
This culinary homage honours key features, such as the French Chocolate Cake symbolizing the elegant French Dining Room, originally from Château d'Asnières near Paris, the 24-carat Gold Pickled Egg representing the Octagon Chapel where William Waldorf rests, and the artistic Cliveden Four Seasons Fruit Cake showcasing the ceiling mural portraying the Duchess of Sutherland's four children as the seasons of the year.
 
This culinary celebration beautifully encapsulates the essence of Cliveden House, where social aspirations were realised, and political history unfolded.
