The Glasshouse at Cromlix
1921 Angel Hill
Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Overview
Housed in a handsome, timber-beamed building on historic Angel Hill, 1921 is an intimate, independently owned restaurant run by husband-and-wife team Zack and Annie Deakins, with Zack leading the kitchen and Annie looking after front of house.
Zack's impressive culinary background includes Restaurant Martin Wishart in Edinburgh, The Bildeston Crown in Suffolk and Le Talbooth in Dedham. His cooking draws on classical technique, creative influences and a particular affection for the exceptional produce of East Anglia. Seasonal ingredients take centre stage, with carefully sourced British seafood, meats and vegetables brought together in inventive, beautifully presented dishes.
Dining begins in the lounge, where an aperitif and a selection of carefully crafted canapés offer a taste of what's to come. The dining room, with its exposed beams, local artwork and shelves of books, has an easy elegance, while Annie and her team bring a personal touch to the service.
Guests can explore Zack's cooking through à la carte and tasting menus, alongside a set lunch menu and vegetarian options. Thoughtfully selected wine and non-alcoholic pairings complete the experience.
