Join Katie Caldesi and her 3D architectural model as she describes the race for treasured nutmeg between the Spanish and Portuguese across the Maritime Spice Routes to the Malucca islands. While you are enjoying the time travel back to the 1500's Chef Afsoon Alborz and Giancarlo Caldesi will be serving an enticing Persian four-course banquet.
Hear about the incredible journeys that both sides of the race encountered through treacherous waters in order to find spice and riches. Learn about the beginning of global trade powered by the European desire for cloves, nutmeg and pepper, how a few jars of jam saved lives on board and how one man’s determination won against the odds.
Guests will be seated at communal tables (unless you request otherwise). A selection of paired wines will be available on the evening by the glass as well as Caldesi's usual wine list.
