Executive Chef - Satyabrat Jena 

Born and raised in Calcutta, a city of great heritage and tradition, Jena always had a deep interest in Indian culture, rituals and traditions. Whilst studying ancient Indian history and archaeology at university, he discovered a love for food and drink and subsequently went on to train in hotel management and catering. 

Jena started his hospitality career at the Star Wood ITC Sheraton Group and not long after headed up the opening of the new flagship, and 5 star, ITC Sheraton in Calcutta, overseeing the establishment of 78 restaurants before making the move to London. 

Whilst in London, Jena was head-hunted to join the Michelin-starred Tamarind in 2003, becoming instrumental in setting up the high profile events division at Tamarind which catered for many gala events in the UK and Europe. 

Before moving to Chakra Group, Jena worked at the capital's most popular Indian restaurants including Dishoom and Jamavar.


DESCRIPTION


Chakra's brand philosophy is to "bring the outside inside" through the generous use of plants, creating an uplifting dining experience where the cuisine and ambience intertwine, a harmonious experience that evokes a feeling of happiness and abundance.


Offering sumptuous Indian dishes, Chakra, Kingston, with its iconic riverside location is certainly set to make the list for one of London's best al fresco dining spots, and the restaurant itself boasts a unique take on India's vibrant colour palette of teal green, gold and purple, while grand mirrors and lanterns nod to India's colonial heritage.

The menu celebrates North Indian cuisine with Punjabi influences with a focus on dishes cooked in the tandoor, as well as a cherry-picked selection of mouth-watering dishes from several other regions of the sub-continent. The authentic Indian cuisine with a contemporary twist honours high-quality, fresh, seasonal ingredients.
