Overview

As one chapter ends, another begins – and Ugly Butterfly 2.0 is the perfect new home for Adam Handling’s most sustainable brand.

Here, the experience is quintessentially British, whether dining in the restaurant, unwinding on the terrace, or sipping cocktails at the bar. The menu celebrates the finest produce from the South West, set against dramatic coastal scenery and unforgettable sunsets.

At its heart is a flexible ‘4x4’ menu, inviting guests to curate their own journey through the region’s larder, with four dishes in each section – plus the option to begin with Porthilly oysters. Standout plates include Cornish tuna with preserved truffle and elderflower, Adam’s refined take on lobster and wagyu using delicate St. Ives lobster, lamb with tandoori cauliflower and wasabi leaf, and warm Cornish apple tarts baked fresh and served tableside.

The terrace offers a more relaxed approach, with indulgent comfort food that champions Cornish seafood in true laid-back style.

Perched within the historic Headland Hotel, overlooking Fistral Beach, the setting is nothing short of spectacular. From clifftop views to sweeping ocean horizons, it’s a place where time slows – and the world seems to melt away.

Opening hours

Opening times from 2nd December - 2nd January: Restaurant: Monday to Sunday: 12 noon - 2:00pm & 5:00pm - 10:00pm; Afternoon Tea: Monday to Sunday: 12 noon - 4:00pm. Ugly Butterfly will be closed from 2nd January until early February 2026.
