The Half Moon
Afternoon Tea at the Crystal Moon Lounge - Corinthia London
Westminster, London
Overview
It was in 1840 that Ana, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, noticed she felt a 'sinking feeling' around mid-afternoon. Once served with a pot of Darjeeling tea, some bread, butter and biscuits, she felt decidedly better. The afternoon tea was born.
The Crystal Moon Lounge is at the heart of this grand hotel, illuminated by the spectacular 1,001 crystal Baccarat Chandelier and accompanied by uplifting melodies from a Steinway piano, offering an idyllic atmosphere for Afternoon Tea. A range of specially commissioned, hand-painted bone china by Richard Brendon, combining contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship, arrives laden with finger andwiches, scones and fine pastries and cakes, while an antique Champagne trolley is wheeled to each table to initiate the afternoon tea service. A bespoke collection of fine teas, including Corinthia London's house infusion, is displayed and prepared by the tea master at a tea station.
