Bistro 1922

Bistro 1922 is a very much a neighbourhood restaurant on Lower Sloane Street, adjoining The Sloane Club and open to the public. Its name nods to the founding year of the century-old private members’ club next door, whose interiors were redesigned by Russell Sage Studio.

The cooking has the easy familiarity of a classic British bistro, with produce sourced from British suppliers and a menu changing with the seasons. Cornish sardines come with preserved lemon, alongside smoked Scottish salmon, Suffolk chicken with leeks and prunes and Aberdeen Angus skirt steak with fries. Alongside the food, a thoughtful wine list rounds things out, with an emphasis on easy, unpretentious pairings.

There’s an ever-changing Dish of the Day, a Host’s Table Menu and, on Sundays, a proper roast. Sister Café 1922 sits alongside the bistro, extending the 1922 name onto Lower Sloane Street.
