Situated in the heart of Topsham, The Salutation Inn has been providing bed and sustenance to sailors, travellers and revellers for nearly 300 years, with Tom and Amelia Williams-Hawkes at the helm since 2014. With six renovated boutique bedrooms and a high-reputation for gourmet feasting, The Salutation continues to be the go-to destination for celebrations and special occasions, while their GlassHouse is the perfect daily escape for coffee, cake and afternoon tea.
Located in one of Topsham's grandest buildings, The Salutation Inn is steeped in history. The fine three-story facade stands proudly in the centre of Topsham, an old port and ship building town at the head of the Exe Estuary. English Heritage describe the vast wooden door as one of the largest single leaf doors in the country, carrying above it the Assembly and its architecturally unique Venetian window. The building is protected with a star listing. From Regatta Balls to 19th century balloon trips, this building has plenty of stories to tell!
The restaurant offers a choice of three menus, using the finest locally sourced, seasonal ingredients from Devon and the South West. Tom cooks with a modern French influenced style, heavy on seafood from the River Exe on the doorstep, and game.
