sketch - Afternoon Tea in the Gallery

From 1st to 27th May 2024: Visit sketch to enjoy the 10th edition of Sketch in Bloom. This is the period of the year when the building transforms its grand neoclassical spaces into a blooming space, part of the annual Mayfair in Bloom. This year, the exhibition pays to The National Gallery's Bicentenary with a blooming homage to seminal artists from the National Gallery’s collection.

Opened in 2002 as a collaboration between the culinary legend Pierre Gagnaire and restaurateur Mourad Mazouz, sketch has firmly established itself as not only one of London's finest restaurants but moreover, a destination for food, drink, music and art. From the street, the unsuspecting Victorian London townhouse (formerly the head office for Dior) masks the secret interior where every single inch has been transformed into a decadent wonderland of opulence, even down to the toilets which are so popular they have their own Instagram #!

On the ground floor is the artist conceived gastro-brasserie restaurant, British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare CBE RA showcases artwork titled Modern Magic, and project architect India Mahdavi has framed the work with the warmth of sunshine-yellow and copper gold.
