Fred Peneau

Born in Alicante, Fred grew up with a Spanish mother and a French, Basque father. As a child Fred developed his passion for food early, making Basque cakes and selling them door to door in Norway where he lived with his family. Fred's professional career started at the iconic Cafe Burq, a Paris hotspot in the fashionable Montmartre district, before opening several successful restaurants including Le Chateaubriand - the leading figure in Paris's 'bistronomie' movement - and Michelin-starred Serge et le Phoque in Hong Kong, which inspired the restaurant at The Mandrake.


DESCRIPTION


The Mandrake, an independent boutique hotel, has opened its restaurant in London Fitzrovia, including the team behind Hong Kong's Michelin-starred Serge et le Phoque. French duo Charles Pelletier and Fred Peneau, have opened their first London venture in the hotel, offering refined dining using modern French techniques. The 80 cover restaurant also features a 16 person private dining room.
