Peter Sanchez-Iglesias 

Self-taught Peter gained an interest in cooking from a very early age; he left school at 16 without any formal qualifications to pursue his passion for food. He joined City of Bristol catering college and started working part-time at his family's Italian restaurant Casamia. When the restaurant's head chef left a year later, he was thrown in at the deep end, taking over the kitchen. His older brother Jonray, who was studying graphic design at the time and helped out front of house, joined him. 

Driven by a love of experimenting with different ingredients and techniques, the brothers went on to renovate a run-down grade two listed town house which was to become their first fine dining restaurant Fratelli. Together they honed their skills but despite accolades from Michelin inspectors the establishment closed its doors in 2006. Unfazed, Peter and Jonray returned to their family restaurant Casamia which at the time was serving pizza and pasta, and took over from father Paco and mother Susan. 

The family driven restaurant has since gone on to receive a Michelin star, making Peter one of the youngest chefs in Europe to hold this award. In 2010, Casamia won Gordon Ramsay’s ‘Best Restaurant in the UK’ and in 2012 it became the only Bristol restaurant to be awarded four AA Rosettes.  Four times a year the Casamia transforms itself with the changing seasons. 


With an intimate restaurant setting of just nine tables, chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias and his team create dishes which are influenced by the individuality, multi-cultural and creative vibes of their home city of Bristol. The single tasting menu changes accordingly with day to day seasonal offerings, and you will need to allow 3.5 hours to enjoy the experience comfortably. A shorter four-course lunch is available on Fridays. Staff here are friendly, welcoming and helpful, with the aim to put you at your ease, ready to relax and enjoy the experience ahead.
